No less than three parties for the Grantham extended family over four sunny days

The Grantham extended family had a reunion at Fynbos over four lazy late summer days. On the Saturday, they had no less than three serial birthday parties, one in the morning for their grandmother who turned 90, one at lunch time for the 40 year old, and then one through the evening to celebrate a 21st.
We were on the outskirts of it all, appreciating the different energies and the musical about turns drifting from the pavilion.  We enjoyed the various sideshow happenings – the children swimming or playing with the farm animals, the strong young men collecting firewood, the earnestly chatting young women, the grownups lazing about on the stoep, and the enjoyment of good food and wine (cooked by the guests and not us this time).  We think the farm, with its grand Victorian farmhouse and many gardens, is made for such events, so we were very happy. And by the comments and emails sent to us, the partied out Grantham family were happy too.
