April
22nd—April 29th
Limited spaces are available for a week-long
residential meditation retreat, located a little over an hour’s drive from Cape
Town. Our director is Jennifer Woodhull, a veteran meditation teacher who has
led retreats for many years under the supervision of her close teacher,
Pema Chödrön.
This rich retreat provides beginners with an excellent
introduction to the view and practice of meditation, while seasoned meditators
will enjoy the opportunity to reinvigorate their practice.
The retreat venue is the idyllic Fynbos Estate, a
lovely wine farm and nature reserve nestled in the Paardeberg Mountains.
Accommodation is in a beautiful old farm house, complete with high ceilings,
wooden floors and huge sash windows. The food at Fynbos is legendary, and
prepared for us fresh each day by chef Johan Simons. Space is limited and room
choices tend to go quickly, so please book early.
This retreat serves to introduce Shambhala Training
(Training Levels I, II and III), a progressive
meditation training programme developed in the 1970s and road tested since then
at more than 200 centres worldwide. Presented as a series of five weekend
levels, the training comprises in-depth meditation instruction, one-on-one
meetings with a qualified instructor, plenty of meditation practice, and
inspiring teachings designed to bring the practice of mindfulness into every
aspect of everyday life. Graduates will be eligible to attend Level IV anywhere
in the world.
