Along with autumn has come
olive season, and with a wet 2012 winter and 800 teenage trees now in
production, our olive crop has been GYNORMOUS. This translates into
double last year’s oil (200 litres of Leccino,
Frantoia, Mission Coratina ) as well as, for
the first time, a large crop of eating olives, (Kalamata,
Mission, Nocellara del belice). With the
latter we think we will get 400 jars of olives, as well as some
tapenade.
As always everyone got
involved in the picking, and volunteers -Jake Jackie and Gerry - also
took pictures of the olive boutique in Riebeek Kasteel, where our
olives were pressed.
Johann Human is also
designing a new product label. We will keep you posted.
