CONSERVATION : THE PINOTAGE HUT IS UPGRADED WITH GIRL POWER, AND IS READY FOR USE.

Following our `From the Wild’ post, we thought we would tell you that we have now put finishing touches to  the mountain hut, which  is now available to guests.  First erected  10 years  ago to enable us to scare off baboons at harvest, this is a great  spot for communing with nature. But it has often stood empty as, uninsulated, it  has been mostly  too hot or too cold to use. So we were delighted when  volunteers Sarah-Jane, Hanna, and Trudie, took on the job of insulating it. They  stapled and nailed and painted and planted poles  - getting three quarters done before they had to leave. But  carried by a  momentum all of its own, Theresa and Daniella from Germany,  took on the job of finishing it.

The hut is available for nature lovers willing to exchange some conservation work on the farm. Just to note though, that it has no loo (yet) or electricity, so it is for serious communing.
