MORE HAPPY ANIMAL STORIES: THE RETURN OF SWEETPI’S MOJO, AND AN OWL REUNION

Sweetpi
Lots of people have asked us about the wellbeing of Sweetpi after his adventures, so we are happy to tell you that he has recovered beautifully. He is eating well and his waggy tail is back. His 3 week starvation and subsequent illness have definitely aged him, but he hopefully has many years in him yet. We are all very happy with his progress.

Owls
Another happy story began not so happily with a baby owl found lying wounded in the werf. It was so small its eyes were not open yet and it could barely lift its head. A short way away, in the hollow of an oak tree, sat an owl we thought must be its mom. We immediately phoned our 'owl friend' Fiona, who said not to treat the wound, but to try to put the baby back with its mom as soon as possible. So Gail set up the rescue with ladder and gloves, and I climbed a ladder and with head averted, popped the baby into the hollow. Mom made terrible noises and looked ready to fly at me.
For two days we kept an eye on the tree but saw only mom and no baby, and then on the third morning, there they both were, looking out of their hollow.

Safely back with mom.
