Its butterfly time again

With spring has come butterfly time again. Fanie Rautenbach, the butterfly expert who last year opened up the world of butterflies on the farm, returned to find what he could find.  He reports...

`. there were plenty of butterflies and I saw 10 species. Five of these I have recorded on my visits in February/March. And the following 5 species are new ones for Paardeberg):
(1)Boland brown
(6)Dickson's widow/Spring widow (cannot be distinguished without doing a dissection)
(2 & 3)Bush bronze
(4)Orange-banded protea (only long distant photo of this one)
(5)Painted lady

Fanie will be offering butterfly walks and talks based on the farm over the next month. Anyone interested, please contact us for more details.
