After 3 months on the farm, Swen and Gerry, left us to continue their travels before returning home to Switzerland. They fitted in so well here and we grew so fond of them, it was really sad to say goodbye. On the work front they were a great help. With hard skills, Swen fixed and built and plumbed, sorted out electrics and made beautiful tables from barrel staves. This complemented Gerry’s organising, cooking, painting and gardening abilities, so that between them they did an amazing amount of work. They even looked after the farm entirely for 2 weeks during which time they hosted a workshop, allowing us to go on holiday. Thank you. All of us (humans and animals) miss you a lot.
A letter from Swen and Gerry
About a week ago we left the little paradys fynbos estate and we already miss it. all the people and animals became part of our lives in the 3 months we spent there. first of all we do miss you, diana and johan. we have become attached to you. you are fantastic people and you are the most important reason why fynbos estate is such a great place. we miss diana's warm character and the way she talks and listen to people, johan's positive thinking and the way he made us laugh a lot. we miss sweetpea's way to look at us and his calm behaviour, the crazy sheep baaing for food or attention, mollie for waiting for 1 and a half, the donkeys, wet from the rain, osama for his kick when he thought he hadnt enough food, susi cream cheese for cuddling up to us and all the other people and animals, who gave us the feeling to be home right from the beginning.thank you so much for everything, we learnt a lot and will be back! lots of love
