Embodied practice - a yoga & meditation retreat

ON THIS RETREAT we will explore
‘embodied’ practice – one in which nothing is
excluded, and which acknowledges the totality
of our day-to-day experience as offering ongoing
opportunities for ‘waking up’.
While reflecting on the body as the container
of our experience, classical hatha yoga postures
and breathing practices will be introduced,
along with basic meditation practices drawn
from the earliest Buddhist traditions, as
tools for calming the body, mind
and heart.
We will also reflect on how inner
steadiness and ease might provide a useful
base from which to respond to the world
around us in appropriate ways

Embodied practice and yoga - a meditation retreat
When: From 6.00pm on Thursday 15 March to 1.30pm on Sunday 18 March 2012.
Where: At an exquisite fynbos estate, near Malmesbury; directions etc. will be provided upon booking.
Cost: R1 350 per person – this includes shared accommodation (two per room), all meals (simple vegetarian) and beverages. A non-refundable deposit of R800 will confirm your booking, and the remaining amount is payable by 8 March.
In keeping with Buddhist tradition, the teachings are offered as a form of dana – an integral and core aspect of practice, dana is the practice of generosity, and includes giving freely of resources, wisdom or energy. Retreats provide both teachers and participants with opportunities to engage in this practice in ways that are both personal and individual, and anyone wishing to make a dana offering in response to the teachings will be able to do so anonymously.
Most of the retreat will be structured, with daily asana/pranayama sessions, sitting/walking meditation sessions and evening talks, as well as some free time in the afternoons. Please note that we will maintain silence throughout the retreat, and will have an opportunity for discussion on the final evening.
Everyone is welcome and there will be a maximum of fourteen participants.
